1 · Strategy (18)
Breakout of the opening range · Defaults: a 40-tick stop on MNQ · 45% winners · 1:2 reward/risk · 2 trades a day (illustrative assumptions).
What the research says Positive before costs, close to zero after them
In the study: enter in the direction of the first 5 minutes, stop at the edge of that candle, target 10R or exit at the close. The win rate was about 23%–24%, and the average result +0.13R per trade before costs. In a replication on futures, after spread and slippage, no market showed a significant profit, and in four of five the result was negative.
Each strategy's defaults (relative stop, win rate, reward/risk, trades a day) are illustrative assumptions, not real performance data. Enter your own numbers.

Recommended 5 Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100 contracts at Topstep Standard 50K
Set automatically. Of the quantities that risk at most 5% of the drawdown per trade (20 losses in a row to fail) and fail at most 25% of attempts, this one has the lowest expected cost to a funded account ($391), with $100 at risk per trade, 40% passing and 0% failing within two months. With the same values, FundedNext Futures Flex is the cheapest of all 50K plans.
The recommendation comes from the simulation of the numbers you entered and the plans' rules, not from real trading. Not investment advice.

Cost to a funded account = the plan price (after a verified code) × the average number of attempts until a pass, including monthly renewals on monthly plans, plus the activation fee after passing (where it is in our data). A plan where your quantity is above its maximum is marked and not ranked.
What the simulator tells you
The risk per trade is high: 19 losses in a row are enough to fail this plan. Try fewer contracts, a shorter stop or a micro contract.
For this strategy, FundedNext Futures Flex is the cheapest way to a funded 50K account ($132 on average). Tap it in the table to see why.
Pick a strategy, an asset and a stop size, then a firm and a plan. The simulator runs 400 two-month attempts under the plan's rules (drawdown, target, daily loss limit, consistency, minimum days, contract limit) and shows your odds of passing, what it costs until you pass, and which firm fits your style best.
Firm rules: our verified data, prices checked Oct 13, 2026 · Not investment adviceHow the simulation works
- Every trade ends at the stop (a loss of the risk plus commission) or at the target (R times the risk, minus commission), at the win rate you picked.
- EOD drawdown: the floor rises with the highest daily close. Intraday: the floor rises after every winning trade. In both cases it stops at the starting balance.
- Daily loss limit: after a daily loss equal to the limit, the day ends (the loss does not fail the account).
- Pass: profit at the target, after the minimum days, and on a plan with a consistency rule the best day is no more than the allowed share of the profit.
- Monthly plans renew every 21 trading days; the simulation stops after 42 trading days (two months).
- Not included: unusual slippage, opening gaps, several open trades at once, and rule changes after the check date.

Simulator questions
How does the prop firm strategy simulator work?
It plays 400 two-month attempts (42 trading days) on the plan you pick, with your win rate, reward/risk, trades a day, stop and number of contracts, under that plan's drawdown (EOD or intraday trailing), profit target, daily loss limit, consistency rule and minimum days from our verified data. Monthly plans renew every 21 trading days. The cost to a funded account is the price times the attempts per pass, plus the activation fee.
Which prop firm is best for my strategy?
The ranking table sorts every plan at your account size by the expected cost to a funded account for the same strategy, asset and risk. A plan where your quantity is above its contract limit is marked and not ranked. Partner status plays no part.
Are the strategy defaults real results?
No. The defaults are illustrative assumptions. Where a published study exists, the research card sums it up with its source, and "Use the research values" loads the win rate and R from it. Enter the numbers from your own trading journal for a meaningful result.
Is the simulator investment advice?
No. It is a statistical simulation of the assumptions you enter and of rules checked on the firms' own sites. Real trading has slippage, gaps and rule changes, and no simulation guarantees a result.
